One of my favourite healthy homemade meal of all time.
It's so green it can make a cow "jump" with joy! hence the name "cow jump".
Nah~ just kidding, but seriously. You will know why as we go along.
Here it is:
Fish crackers aka Keropok |
Clockwise from top left: cucumber, long beans, lemongrass, daun kesom, daun pegaga. (I think there's another herb, but I can't recall the name) |
Fried grated coconut (fried without oil) |
Ikan panggang aka smoked fish |
Budu aka fermented fish sauce |
onion |
rice cooked with natural juice from herbs |
mixed it all in, without any particular sequence |
top with budu (flavor it according to your taste, budu can be very salty, so a lil will do) |
mix and stir them all, like the Malay will say "Gaul gaulkan". Then DIG IN, YALLZ!! |
This is a Malay/Siam dish. "Kau Jam" in Thai means Salad Rice. Well, the greens that go into this sure is a healthy salad meal!
For your record, I'm no Malay. None of my family is. But my grandma sure can cook like one!
Advice: I usually don't take so much rice cos once you mix it all in, it'll be a big pile!
You can also try it with other veges or side dishes.
Absolutely recommended to those who liked it healthy.
Verdict: 5/5
